Soil surfactant use on athletic field infield surfaces

چکیده
Infield skins are best managed by deep and slow additions of water, but time between games limits these applications. A two-year study was conducted on a collegiate club softball infield skin to evaluate if applications soil surfactants could extend moisture levels in infields. Seven treatments (Magnus at 15.9 L ha?1 Magnus 2x 31.8 ha?1, Vivax Cascade 25.5 50.9 Tab 3.3 water m?2, Precision EZ m?2), as well nontreated control (NTC) were applied. Linear regression analysis for readings resulted the having greatest loss (?0.44% h?1) along with NTC (?0.41% 2018, however no differences present 2019. Contrast statements compared only offered lower over than NTC. provided harder surface immediately after watering, hardness all other 4 h. In 2019, Tabs did not have values 8 h watering had Treatment affects consistent from year year, it appears increased rates may be needed change any duration. Future research should focus different materials.

Modeling surfactant adsorption on hydrophobic surfaces.
Surfactant adsorption on hydrophobic surfaces is of current interest in attempts to solubilize single-wall carbon nanotubes and to render quantum dots biocompatible. A coarse grained method is presented for incorporating a hydrophobic surface into existing liquid force fields by appealing to statistical mechanics and probability theory. The dimensionality problem which arises is overcome with a...
متن کاملContact angles of surfactant solutions on heterogeneous surfaces.
Using Gibbs' adsorption equation and a literature isotherm, a new general model to predict the contact angle of surfactant solutions on (smooth or rough) chemically heterogeneous surfaces is constructed based on the Cassie equation. The model allows for adsorption at the liquid-vapor, solid-liquid, and solid-vapor interfaces. Solid-vapor adsorption is allowed in order to model the autophobic ef...
متن کاملControlling liquid splash on superhydrophobic surfaces by a vesicle surfactant
Deposition of liquid droplets on solid surfaces is of great importance to many fundamental scientific principles and technological applications, such as spraying, coating, and printing. For example, during the process of pesticide spraying, more than 50% of agrochemicals are lost because of the undesired bouncing and splashing behaviors on hydrophobic or superhydrophobic leaves. We show that th...
متن کاملWhey protein coating efficiency on surfactant-modified hydrophobic surfaces.
Whey protein oxygen-barrier coatings on peanuts are not effective, due to incomplete peanut-surface coverage, as well as some cracking and flaking of the coating. Addition of sorbitan laurate (Span 20) in the whey protein coating solution up to the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of 0.05% (w/w) significantly improved coating coverage to 88% of the peanut surface. Increasing the Span 20 con...
